Sacramento Valley Golf

The Sacramento Valley including the areas going south to Modesto have developed a wide range of private golf courses. It wasn’t as easy to pin point the most popular course however. This isn’t set in stone and we’re open to suggestions.

We finally came up with Del Paso Country Club located only a few minutes from Sacramento in the Arden Way area.

Del Paso Country Club was founded in Sacramento, California in 1916 on what was once part of the historic Rancho Del Paso.  Through the years, the Club has grown to include a championship 18-hole golf course, short game practice area, driving range, award-winning Golf Shop, elegant and private meeting rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center and adult and children’s swimming pools.

The Club’s 18-hole park style golf course challenges amateurs and professionals alike.  It has served as the host to the  U.S. Women’s Open and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in 1957 and 1976 and was the 30-year home for the at Cancer Celebrity Pro-Am.  Early exhibitions featured Sir Cotton, Tommy Armour and Lloyd Mangrum.  Later, Hall of Fame Champions who participated in the Swing included Kathy Whitworth, Sam Snead, Billy Casper, Gene Litler, Hale Irwin, Johnny Miller, Tom Watson and many others.

We now have Melissa Reisinger heading up the series of 7 tournaments in the Sacramento Valley. There will be six tournaments and a Tee Off all played before the end of July.

We’ll keep you posted on the dates as they are secured right after the first of the year. I am sure Melissa will appreciate your help if you have any suggestions about playing in the Sacramento area.

She’s spends most of her time in the Sacramento area and moved there from Vallejo.

Most of the set up work, including the corporate sponsorship can be done from anywhere, so it is great to have Melissa on the UBU team!
